What matters most in this book are the characters and their relationship. The conflict that almost tears Brody and Elliot apart strikes me as completely believable. It is compounded of Brody’s fears and insecurities and Elliot’s pride and his own fears. I suppose some readers may fault some of Brody’s actions, some of her responses. But even when I found her behavior ill-considered, I understood where she was coming from. This is the mark of a good author.

Elliot is an incredible hero in many ways. He has put his needs in the background to maintain a friendship that was important to him, but once the obstacle to his love is gone, he is almost at a loss. He truly wants to love Brody, but cannot let her continue to use him. He wants and deserves more…. The feelings of both these characters are poignant and painful, and the resolution brought a tear to my eye. In a way, this book was like some visits to the doctor's office, uncomfortable and frustrating at times, but ultimately, a positive experience. By the time you close the book, you'll have a pretty clean bill of mental health.

Review of "The Dead Man: Face of Evil" by Lee Goldberg & William RabkinOk, here's another review of another Lee Goldberg book. I promise I'm really not related to him. It's just that coincidentally, I started reading his books around the same time that I started writing (and reviewing) and I just happen to love them.The Dead Man is a series that Goldberg and Rabkin had intended to be a TV series about 20 years ago. Face of Evil, the first book, does indeed read like a TV pilot, and like many TV pilots, leaves you both satisfied and dissatisfied.Let me explain. First of all, I couldn't put it down. It reads well, and the main character is attractive. Matthew Cahill is what in Australia we'd call a good bloke. He's strong, handsome, lots of integrity, helps those less fortunate, and basically what you see is what you get. And the problem he initially has to solve is one that we can readily identify with. Not that any of us have ever really had that...

I want more!
The Dead Man: Face of Evil by Lee Goldberg (one of my favorite authors) and William Rabkin presents the reader with a tantalizing mixture of mystery and macabre. Matthew Cahill is a proud woodsman who is the unfortunate victim of an avalanche. For three months, his body remains buried under thick mountains of ice.He's obviously dead. Right?Not exactly.But things have changed for Matthew...And...well, you'll just have to read the story to find out!A tale, no matter how unrealistic or outlandish, works if the characters are ones you can care about. The authors have given enough depth to Cahill and his various relationships that you'll find yourself rooting for the main character and "turning the page" to find out what's around the next corner.Is The Dead Man too short? Of course. But in a way, all good stories are. I certainly can't wait to read more.

OMG Shonda has done it again, This book is definetly the truth. Read as shonda devaughn goes into the life of janae and tae who has been together or four years, and althuough tae have had numerous affairs,janae still took him back, but you would have to read to find out will she seek revenge and if so will tae be able to accept it, or will janae continue to play his fool. I absoloutly love all books wriiteen by Shonda but this here is greeeeaaaat....

Had me in tears!
This is the first book that I read by this author, but it most certainly will not be the last. The characters went through so much drama that I wanted to smack them myself, but I couldn't help but feel that poor Janae couldn't catch a break. She went through what so many of us women go through - staying in a bad relationship, cheating, and we all should be able to truly relate to something in the book. Definitely a 5 star read!

famtastic ending to Gus's story
a great sequel. gus is the everyman, with his own fears and limitations. he does the best he can and like all of us, doesn't do enough to prepare for the future. He lets his emotions rule him occasionally and other times uses drinking to blot those same emotions out.keith blackmore writes with an easy style and has a way of building characters very quietly and without much fuss. this book is no exception to his talents.

Great Sequel

Keith Knows Zombies
Wow. I got the chance to read an advance copy of the book- I couldn't stop- read it all in one marathon sitting!Following Gus and his adventures through the short story in Cauldron Gristle and the Mountain Man novels is a treat for all zombie fiction lovers. Plenty of zombie stomping action and a nice twist towards the end. We finally find out what has been cleaning up the carcasses...

I really loved this book - so much that I immediately started looking for the other books by this author.Neither Emily and Quinn are looking for a relationship - Emily because she has had several bad experiences that convinced her she would never have a successful relationship, and Quinn because he was living a fast life, and didn't think he was ready to fall in love. They have an immediate connection, although Emily's nerves make it hard for her to allow anything to happen.Emily helps Quinn, Quinn helps Emily. It's a great story, left me wanting more. Can't wait for the story of Lynn and Paul, along with any other books by this author.Sex - just one, very sensual.I remember no editing errors.All around, a great, easy read.I received a complimentary copy to review, and I am happy to heartily recommend it.

A quick escape
For those of us who love to escape our busy lives for a little bit, this piece of light reading is perfect. An easy read, this story was a lovely combination of innocent and dirty delights. The narration splits between our two protagonists which can sometimes happen in the middle of a scene without warning, but if you can keep up with it the insight into each character is a nice addition to the story. Also, the author allows for some potential follow-up/spin-off for those readers who don't want the story to end or love following a story and its characters past one book.I received a complimentary copy of this book in order to review it.

Summer read -could be more
If "California man" is a start then it is a good one. The idea of the story is interesting, the language used is fluent and accessible with small stuck here and there. But the story made me laugh a little, made me cry a little, but I think that the author can do much, much better. The story line could have been more profound and complex. Anyway, if you want to be content and feel relaxed on a summer night, then you read this story. After I'll read another story written by this author, I could be more specific next time in my reviewing(I hope) about the Sheedy's skill as a writer.
